About Us

At the beginning of this new millennium, when the world we live in looks around in reflection, past, present, and future and all jostle for priority position in our national psyche. In the days of excited anticipation and lingering backward glances, there comes

THE GUNN CLAN TRUST.

Forged within the kiln of our ancestral need, a thousand years Of a nations development, struggle, strife and ultimate maturity come under our unique vantage point for review.

With the enormity of this responsibility in mind we have no choice but to look towards our Cultural and Historical responsibilities.

There exists today, in this ancient and proud land a network of Clans folk, men, women and children, dedicated to the preservation, perpetuation and education of the Scottish Clan culture.

Perhaps the most recently recognised Clan Trust, GUNN was founded by James McPhail Wilson on the birth of his first son, Fergus Cuchulain Gunn. Heritage played not a small part in the motivation of this lifelong project.

James, some might say, is a veteran of the contemporary Clan system, having been involved for some 10 years now in the conception, building and development of some of the country's more prominent and successful Clan groups.

With significant experience in the fields of traditional weaponry, education, historical imagery, tourism, drama, television, film and related subjects it was felt that the time was ripe, or more, predestined for

THE GUNN CLAN TRUST

The objectives of the Trust, both short and long team are many fold.

Perhaps the most significant aspiration of the project is a desire to educate, inspire pride and promote a dignity of expression in all we do. Through demonstrations, informative talks and contact with the public, it is our aim to create a lasting awareness of identity, past and present.

In conjunction with these intentions, it is our aim to project and promote an exciting, vivid and articulate image of our Clan activities. with the help of volunteers, participants and the public, the scope for creative expression is almost endless.

Projects currently under way include:

Decorative targe production.
Alternative tourism imagery (Postcards etc.)
Corporate photography
Wardrobe upgrading and enhancement.

Creative Artwork and graphics.
Weapons Training.
Historical Research.
Research into post culloden tribalism.

In recent years the Gunn Clan has been able harness and mould cultural and clan ambition, to work tirelessly in a limitless arena. Projects have been rich and diverse, each a colourful thread of our cultural weave.

From the Alpine peaks to the shades of Erin,
The Warrior poets song is heard.
